Cream Soup Substitution – gluten free

If you are like me, I have avoided any recipe with cream soup.   Many of the easy recipes call for this ingredient.  I decided to use a base that I have tweaked  to replace creamed soups.  It worked beautifully and I’d like to share it with you.

mushroom soup

1/4 cup of butter

1/3 cup of brown rice flour (You can use white flour if you prefer)

1  1/2 cups of chicken broth

1/2 cup of milk

Salt & Pepper to taste

(Diced onions optional for flavor)

Optional Soups to make:

Cream of Chicken soup – you can add small pieces of chicken(diced)

Cream of Mushroom soup – add 1/2 cup of sauteed mushrooms (diced)

Cream of Celery soup – add 1/2 cup of sauteed celery (diced)

I have also doubled the recipe to use with different meals throughout the week.

  1. This is great! We’ve been trying to eliminate corn products and gluten from our diet, and recipes like this make it easier!

    1. I am so glad this will be a help to you! The most difficult part of making “Healthier Food” is finding recipes that don’t require expensive and hard to find items. The best part is that you cannot tell the difference.
